PPSK Nutrition Final Year Students Receiving Best Research Poster Presentation Awards in the Southeast Asia Public Health Nutrition Conference

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten (10) of the students of final year nutrition programme from the School of Health Sciences, USM were presented their scientific research projects at the 1st Southeast Asia Public Health Nutrition Conference (SeaPHN 2017) held in Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur from the 14th till 17th May 2017. This conference was attended by the experts from health sciences and nutrition from various institutions from Asia Pacific region.

In accordance with the theme of “Together in Advancing Public Health Nutrition”, the delegates of the conference were exposed to a myriad of current issues, specifically on current nutritional problems, current policy that is being applied and development of new technologies in promoting general and health well-being of the people in this region.

Nine students were presented their scientific poster presentation, in which 2 of them were awarded as BEST POSTER PRESENTATION AWARD for the undergraduate presentation category. The award have been received by Siti Sarah Binti Nazrudin, with the title of “Nutritional Composition and Sensory Acceptability of Selected Traditional Kueh Incorporated with Pumpkin” and Nor Aqilah Binti Azmi with the title of “Determination of Microorganisms Count and Vibrio Species Profile in Freshwater Fish”.

Hopefully, all of the knowledge and plans gained through this participation on this prestigious and important conference will help them to further enhance and strengthen their nutritional knowledge and skills in near career development soon and also for the better nutrition of the community. Congratulations and Well Done.
