BIOMEDICINE - MIXED MODE

INTRODUCTION

The Master of Science (Biomedicine) Mixed Mode Programme is offered to produce biomedical scientists to meet the demand of the health industries. Based on inputs from key stake holders and biomedicine experts, compulsory core courses are included to guide attainment of advanced biomedicine laboratory skills, research acumen and sound ethical practices. In addition, candidates are given an opportunity to specialise in one of the three biomedicine clusters, namely (i) Current Cell Biology, (ii) Translational Pharmacotoxicity, or (iii) Trends in Infectious Diseases. Essentially, the programme aspires to generate competent master of biomedicine graduates who are ready for PhD endeavour.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Bachelor of Science (Biomedicine / Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Applied Science, Health Sciences or other related and recognised degrees) 2.75 and above -
2.50 - 2.74

1. Research experience (minimum 1 year)

                                  OR

2. Working experience in related field (minimum 1 year)

                                  OR

3.  Two (2) academic publications (journals, not proceedings) in the field applied

                                  OR

4.  Grade B for major/elective courses

                                  OR

5.  Grade B+ in final year project

                                  AND

3. Subject to additional requirement(s) by the School

2.00 - 2.49

1. Research experience (minimum 5 years)

                                  OR

2. Working experience in related field (minimum 5 years)

                                  AND

3. Two (2) academic publications (journals, not proceedings) in the field applied

                                  OR

4. Grade B+ for major/elective courses

                                  OR

5. Grade A- in final year project

                                  AND

6.  Subject to additional requirement(s) by the School

* Foreign Student has to produce English proficiency result as follows:

  • TOEFL paper based (minimum score 550) or
  • TOEFL computer based (minimum score 213) or
  • TOEFL Internet-based (minimum score 80) or
  • IELTS (skor minimum Band 6)
