EXERCISE AND SPORT SCIENCE - COURSE WORK

INTRODUCTION

The Master of Science (Sport Science) course is a 12-months full time study. This course in sport science and exercise physiology will cover the relevant basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, research methodology), and the effect of exercise on health.

The aim of the course is to enable physical educators, instructors, coaches, and health care professionals (nutritionist, physiotherapist, fitness leader) and medical doctors to gain knowledge and develop skills for the advancement of science in sports.

Apart from these common area, the curriculum will include principles of training, sports nutrition, sports management and sports injuries. The course will consist of two semester of teaching consisting of lectures, seminars, tutorials and laboratory-based practical work. This will be followed by a research project starting in the second semester. This project will involve laboratory or field-based research on a relevant sport science topic.

2. Working experience in related field (minimum 1 year); OR

3.  Two (2) academic publications (journals, not proceedings) in the field applied; OR

4.  Grade B for major/elective courses; OR

5.  Grade B+ in final year project; AND

6. Subject to additional requirement(s) by the School

Note: Foreign Student has to produce English proficiency result as follows:

  • TOEFL paper based (minimum score 550); or
  • TOEFL computer based (minimum score 213); or
  • TOEFL Internet-based (minimum score 80); or
  • IELTS (score minimum Band 6)
