Program OKU Aktif is a virtual fitness program for people with intellectual disabilities from 22 Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK) in Kelantan (Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Putih, Machang and Gua Musang) and YOKUK - A foundation for helping disabled and impoverished people. Three Exercise and Sports Science’ alumni were invited as fitness instructors for this program which were held in six different sessions (two sessions per alumni). Dr. Nursyuhada Mohd Sukri, a 2009 graduate, and Mr. Muhamad Hakimee Mohd Isa and Ms. Nur Shamimi Izzaty Ariffin, a 2019 graduate, both performed various sorts of workouts, including chair aerobics, free weight fun exercise, and stretching exercises. Each alumni session lasted 60 minutes, and each session had at least 70 people in attendance. The objectives of the program were to strengthen the relationship between alumni and community, to gain experience in conducting an exercise through online, to improve physical fitness and foster a healthy and active lifestyle among the disabled people and finally to establish networks with alumni.

Furthermore, this program includes various essential healthy lifestyle suggestions from experienced alumni, demonstrations of suitable exercise techniques, and training for teachers on how to nurture easy exercise in daily life and increase social activities among disabled people. Dr. Nur Syuhada Mod Sukri is currently a university lecturer in Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), while Mr. Muhamad Hakimee Mohd Isa is a personal fitness coach in Chi Fitness Malaysia while Ms. Nur Shamimi Izzaty Ariffin is a Master student in Advanced Medical & Dental Institute, SAINS@Bertam USM. As a result of this initiative, USM could become a reference in the field of fitness and sports for the intellectual disabilities population in PPDK and YOKUK.

The three sessions were recorded and may be assessed:
