An Occupational Safety and Health Programme for chilli farmers was successfully organised by the Environmental and Occupational Health Programme, School of Health Sciences, USM on 17th November 2018 at Desa Asnaf Alam Shah, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan. Aiming to empower knowledge and awareness on the safety and health in agricultural sectors, the programme was participated by 90 residents, and facilitated by our third- and fourth-year undergraduate students, staff and lecturers.

The programme was commenced with an opening speech by the Programme Director, Mr. Mohamed Aidi Azhari bin Mohamad (Undergraduate student). Informative and interactive talks were given by Dr. Nurul Ainun Hamzah (Lecturer, School of Health Sciences), Dr. Mohd Firdaus bin Yhaya (Lecturer, School of Dental Sciences), and Mr. Ahmad Muzammil bin Mahadi (4th year student). Audio-visual presentation, Question and Answer session, as well as exhibition on the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the workplace were also included in our programme. Lastly, the program ended with a closing remark by Mr. Muhammad Zulfadlil Azhim bin Ayub, Executive of Pusat Zakat Selangor and a dissertation giving ceremony to Mr. Muhammad Zulfadlil Azhim bin Ayub from Mr. Ahmad Muzammil.

It was hoped that this program would foster safety and health culture among farmers as well as nurturing the sustainability among the residents.
